The Duality of Being Crazyman's Mother

Things that make me want to kick him in the baby shins:

- How he will only eat food if he thinks it came from my plate and I don't make eye contact with him as I set it on the edge of the table for him to take it when he wants. If it's on his tray, it's obviously disgusting and not fit for his sophisticated baby palate.

- The fact that he has mastered the fit throwing move where when I pick him up he simultaneously throws his arms up in the air, arches his back and goes into some weird combo of jellyfish and stiff as a board. Someday, probably soon, he's going to wind up on his big blonde baby head.

- Once a night he is convinced that he needs a bottle, pretty much NOW and he's not going back to his bed until he has slept on me for the required minimum of one hour.

Things that make me want to kiss his chubby baby face:

- The fact that while he's eating all the food he is sure is mama's he goes "mmmmmm" like it's the best thing he's ever tasted.

- How right after the fit from hell, complete with bird of prey squealing, he will sweetly look into my eyes, utter the word 'mama' and lay his head on my shoulder.

-Once a night he is convinced that he needs a bottle, pretty much NOW and he's not going back to his bed until he has slept on me for the required minimum of one hour. I get in a solid hour of cuddle of time and I know it's going to go away before I know it.

Why is being a mother the coolest and the suckiest thing all at the same time?

But look at that face! He's so cute!
Hang tough Mama, you're doing a great job! One day we'll replace those late nights of crying babies with late nights lying awake hoping they're OK!
